"A digital citizen understands the rights and responsibilities of inhabiting cyberspace" (MoE, TKI). "Digital citizenship is a powerful enabler of inclusion in social, cultural and civil society" (Netsafe).

The VLN Primary offers Digital Citizenship classes to develop students digital fluency. Classes are based on the NZ Curriculum values and key competencies and build Digital literacy and Cybersafety skills in a cross-curricular approach for levels 1-5.

Students gain knowledge about safety in the digital environment, digital literacy skills, and explore online attitudes and values as they develop their digital fluency. eTeachers can support and collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate the Digital Citizenship learning with classroom cross-curricula learning.

This is an opportunity for teachers to learn alongside students and upskill themselves in the area of Digital Fluency.
