Lorraine is currently Deputy Principal at a full primary school in Auckland. She is passionate about being an advocate for the voiceless, whilst empowering learners to take flight.

Lorraine was a previous member of the VLN Primary Governance Group and has previously been an ALLiS Lead Teacher of Bahasa Indonesian.

Lorraine has been a teacher for 26 years in various roles, including being a Resource Teacher of Māori. She has taught from Primary aged students to Tertiary aged students. She has taught mainly in South Auckland, but has taught in rural and urban areas outside of South Auckland.

Lorraine is proud of her learning community’s achievements, and feels that her community is rich with ‘aroha, manaakitanga and whanaungatanga’. We have the ethos of ensuring our students are given opportunities they otherwise would not be able to have but with the inclusion of being able to put your hand up when needing help, as opposed to putting your hand out.

Being involved with VLNP has enabled learners to become digital savvy with tools to encourage online learning and social interaction with people outside of their own social group. Becoming diverse with culture and skills has assisted with this.
