Students will experience visual art through a variety of hands-on tasks using different media and techniques.

Students begin by sharing what they know and want to learn during the year. We then experiment with the tools on which artworks are created - line, shape, and form.

Artists put their skills to use with self-portraits, and then they are guided through different modules (depending on student interest) and mediums (what we use to create artworks).

Different mediums to choose from include paints, pastels, pencils, ink, mixed media, spray paint, stencils.

Different modules to choose from include figure drawing, animals, pop-art, street art, landscapes, Māori inspired design and more.

Other theory includes symbolism and identity, colour, proportion and composition, depth and perspective.
