The VLN Primary is really pleased to announce that we have recently become an approved institution through the Education Council to attest for our eteachers renewal of registration.

This is an important milestone for us as it recognises and values the professionalism of our eteachers. Being an online teacher requires the same level of professional expertise and rigour as our face to face counterparts, except we don't have to do bus or lunch duty!

However, being an eteacher also provides its own unique challenges and skill sets and we have started discussions with the Education Council about how this can be recognised appropriately in the future. This will provide more incentive and better support for teachers who put themselves outside their comfort zone to work so visibly in online settings and provide these amazing learning opportunities for our students.

Contrary to some of the fears being discussed in response to Communities of Online Learning - quality teachers are critical to the success of our learners. They are our taonga, we could not do without them.
